(Normal P.O.V)

As (Y/N) became accustomed to the light once again, she now stood in front of seven doors; each of which had an anime title (or relative image) on them. They were as follows; Yu-Gi-Oh!, Vampire Knight, Pokémon, Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler), Hetalia, Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack On Titan) and Naruto (Shippuden). You sigh irritably; having to choose between some of your favourite anime has definitely proven difficult for you. Not wasting any time though, (Y/N) mentally sorts out the pro's and con's of each anime universe (a/n: you're smart reader-chan!); she then nods slightly to herself after about half an hour. (Y/N) has made up her mind, and she goes up to the door that she has decided to enter; willing to embrace her fate no matter where in that universe she ends up. Her hand grips and twists the knob of...

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course the first person that she had thought of when her hand had clamped down onto the knob was the very attractive Pharaoh and (half of the) King Of Games himself; Atem, or Yami Yugi. As soon as the image of said character made itself known in her mind however, it seemed that she was immediately captured in a veil of white light- which made her close her eyes on instinct as soon as the brightness of the room changed. It felt like she was going nowhere for a good while, even though she was unconscious of her exact surroundings; it still felt like an alternate dimension...or something of the sort. (Y/N) felt her back hit something...soft? After a while which prompted her to immediately come to her senses, and try to stand up on her feet. After squinting a little bit, she was finally able to make out a desert-like environment which had triangular structures in the ba- she cut off her own thoughts as she then realised where she was. (Y/N)'s hand shook over her lips, as she recalled this very place from one of her favourite anime- Yu-Gi-Oh; she was in Atem's past, obviously before he met Yugi and his friends to help him save the world from plummeting into eternal darkness. As she thought and looked down to kick at the sand, she realised that her attire had been changed entirely to suit the time period- truthfully she couldn't have been more thankful for that though. Keeping this fact in mind, (Y/N) decided (since she was dressed appropriately) to keep walking until she was able to find help of some sort- obviously not thinking about the consequences of her actions before she made her decision.
(Y/N's P.O.V.)
'Darn it! I knew I should have thought of getting water before trying to search the desert for any evidence of civilisation!', I kicked the sand under my feet and grumbled; 'sometimes I don't even know how I manage to get myself into these kinds of situations.' My throat was parched beyond belief, and by this time I was slipping in and out of consciousness- which caused me to freak out even more about my current predicament. Seeing as I was going nowhere anytime soon despite my accomplishments, made me all the more infuriated- and all I truly wanted to do right now is give up. Groaning in both pain and frustration, I just decided to stop for a minute- but that soon turned into five; 'someone, anyone please...help...me...', by this point I was just too weak to speak. My energy had been drained, and I started to pass out just before I could even utter another intelligible word to myself- despite knowing that it would all be in vain. The last thing I saw however, was not blackness...the figure in question was wearing gold, white and purple and had a (charming) deep voice- I could only make out the words "...who...help...palace..." So it was with those last words that I drifted off into a completely black void of nothingness, and I only hoped that whoever managed to save me was not ill-intentioned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Le Time-Skip- 4 Hours Later- brought to you by EXODIA! OBLITERATE!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Suddenly, I felt sore all over so obviously I was (somewhat) awake in that regard; my thirst had been quenched as well because I no longer felt that leathery feeling in the back of my throat, and my head had stopped pounding altogether. As soon as I opened my eyes though, I was not greeted by the desert- but with the most stunning room that I have ever seen in my entire life. Egyptian symbols and paintings dotted the walls beautifully, and the colours that accompanied them only made the sight much more appealing to the eye. Sighing in content at the increase in comfort, I was about to lie back down and drift off again when I see a cloaked woman walk into the very exquisite room; immediately, my first instinct was to tense up and feel threatened because...well...'I have no idea who this person is!', I thought to myselfHowever, when my hand came out in front of my face as a (weak) type of protection- the woman removed her hood...and I instantly noticed her face. It was Priestess Isis. Almost immediately, I relaxed when I was greeted by a soft gaze that was mixed with an understanding look in her deep blue eyes; they radiated a calming aura, and I also knew that she had precognition due to the golden Millennium Necklace- '...I have a feeling what she was about to say'. "I knew that you were coming from another world, I had foreseen it mere moments before your arrival (Y/N)" I heard her state whilst feeling one of her hands gently come to rest on my shoulder as a small gesture of comfort. Letting a small smile slip across my face I thought 'well this isn't so bad after all, at least she understands me'; getting some self-motivation from my mentally-spoken comfort-words, I began to feel safer already- however, another presence entered the room just as I had managed to convince myself that this world was safe so far. I froze in my position. Unmoving, and as still as a statue. I could tell that the figure was male due to the slightly bulkier build and broader shoulders, but I didn't dare move from where I was seated; when he stepped out into the light however, I had to restrain myself from smiling knowingly at the man before me- it was him. It was Atem. He let a slight smile cross his face before approaching me, which in all honesty made me blush- he really is attractive. I blushed at the closeness of his figure before calming (and cursing) my fangirl instincts, so when I finally got the chance to speak to him I wouldn't scare him off with random outbursts of squeals and heart-eyes. 'Okay (Y/N)- no squealing, ranting, stalking or staring', I noted everything in my mental pep-talk so I wouldn't mess up this chance of a lifetime. I was snapped out of my thoughts when the (*ahem* gorgeous) Pharaoh began to speak, and of course being a guest in HIS palace it was only polite to listen and abide by anything and everything he told and asked me to do.

(Atem's P.O.V.)

Sighing I walked through the grand doors that led to the healing room, as I was genuinely worried about the mysterious woman's safety; 'after all, she had been in the middle of nowhere with no water for quite a while, and she was extremely dehydrated'. Keeping that thought in mind, I continued forward until the familiar figure of my High Priestess Isis came into view. I shifted my eyes slightly to catch a glimpse of the smaller and tenser figure beside her, which seemed to loosen up a little after she had caught a glimpse of my face. Deciding that I didn't want to appear intimidating towards her, I let a small smile cross my features for some reassurance; despite seeing her clench up a bit again, I can see that she is definitely less terrified then she was moments ago. Asking silently with a glance at Isis that she be dismissed from the room, earned me a nod- and with that, she was setting off to continue her duties for the day. Carefully taking Isis' place, I seated myself as quietly as possible so I did not frighten her; I had to hold in my gasp as I saw her features up close: her flawless (S/C) skin and beautiful glimmering (E/C) eyes. Strangely though I wanted to reveal her true hair colour as well, so I slowly reached out and removed the wig from her shimmering (H/C) locks; she accepted the action without resisting- I quickly silenced my shocked intake of breath, as her hair was enough to nearly make me lose myself. However, I quickly regained my composure so I didn't seem strange to her, and started to inform her of her duties as she was to be assigned as one of my personal maids. "(Y/N), there is no need to introduce yourself- Isis has informed me of both your name and origins" I started and took a glance back at her to make sure that she was listening "and since you have nowhere to go, I am willing to offer you a position at the palace." Instantly I could see her spirits lift, and that just made me all the more confident that she would accept my offer- which of course "Certainly your highness, who am I to deny the Pharaoh?"- she did. Hearing her respond in a confident but small voice, I just smiled and stated; "it will be alright to address one another on a first-name basis (Y/N), just call me Atem."  I just saw her smile in response and reply "Of course - Atem," which caused an unknown feeling to envelop my heart as soon as my name rolled off of her tongue. 'What is this feeling? I never felt anything like it in my entire life- until I met her', I may not know what this foreign feeling is- but I feel that it can only be a good one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Le Time-Skip- 11 Months- brought to you by Atem's hair ^.^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Y/N's P.O.V.)
Running around the palace after Atem was a daily occurrence for me during the past 11 months, but I love the atmosphere and everyone in the palace...well...almost everyone. It seemed that all but one of the High Priests and Priestesses enjoyed my presence and that one Priest just happened to be Seto (A/N: apparently that's what his name is)- oh well, I just ignore him most of the time anyway. Living in Ancient Egypt has definitely been proven hard for me, because I was born in the 21st Century where technology was definitely far more developed than what it is here. I have basically forgotten all about my previous life now- 'as my home is wherever my heart lies...and that is here...with Atem'. Shaking my head, I internally scolded myself for being a hopeless romantic 'it is very unlikely that he feels the same way after all'- which I knew was a possibility, but I can only hope. At first, I had started to get bored from the lack of technology here, but that was quickly filled with magic since the first day when Priest Mahad was to inform me of my duties as a Priestess- since I wasn't quite at the required level of a High Priestess yet. Working towards becoming promoted to a High Priestess was very difficult for me since I had the magic inside of me- but I just didn't know how to use it properly. That's where my training with Mahad and Mana started, 'and since I apparently was excelling far beyond Mana's level without even having knowledge of doing so; I had practically become Mahad's top student overnight'. Remembering that made me laugh wholeheartedly because Mana was so shocked that she had fallen off of her stool that she had been sitting on moments prior to the announcement- to which I just shook my head and thanked Mahad for being such a good teacher. Speaking of Mahad, that is the reason why I am catching up to Atem now; because wherever Mahad goes, I have to follow. Him being a High Priest and me being a High Priestess and both of us being close to the Pharaoh, automatically makes us the most important members of his Royal Court. I had found out that I excelled in white (healing & defence) and light magic which made me a very powerful Magician- and opposites are a good defence mechanism; Mahad is a Dark Magic user and I am a White & Light Magic user, therefore we stand a greater chance at succeeding when attacked. Which is why I have to hurry up, I am late and I cannot even begin to describe how embarrassing it is when one is late for ANYTHING in this palace. Sighing gratefully, I found the golden double doors that lead to the Throne Room, quickly smoothed-down my outfit, and pushed them open as quietly as possible as not to disturb a possible conversation taking place on the other side. Apparently, I was stressing out over nothing because I was still a bit early- and I knew this because...Mahad has just noticed me...and has also started laughing at my flustered state. Playfully scowling at the High Priest and my former teacher, I stuck out my elbow to dig him in the ribs to shut him up as the Pharaoh entered the room. After silently sniggering for a while with Mahad just smiling at me, I stood with Isis and Mahad and started to calm down to take things seriously- but it was then that Atem threw me an amused and knowing look which made my cheeks turn pink; he was just one of my closest friends, and yet he managed to get me embarrassed with just one look. But no, he wasn't finished- when he sat down Atem threw me a teasing smile, which caused my face to go beet-red. 'Darn it Atem! Out of all the time in the world you had to pick now to act like this!', I know that he only messes around with me because he can only really be himself around those he trusts...well that and I swear that he has taken a noticeable interest in me these past couple of months.
(Atem's P.O.V)
I sent a knowing look towards (Y/N) before sitting down, she was enjoyable to wind-up and tease; this being said, I couldn't stop myself shooting her a final smile when I had successfully sat myself down. 'Truthfully, I'd much rather accompany (Y/N) for a walk through the Palace Gardens than wait around in here for-' I mentally slapped myself in the face after that comment. It is my duty to hear of all the kingdom's problems, I need to keep my priorities in order; however, when I still decided to take one last look at said woman, she was currently flustered beyond belief- and just looking at me accusingly to which I just gave her an innocent look. (Y/N) rolled her eyes and went back to being almost as still as a statue, which was rather impressive for someone who (before) couldn't sit still in any room without getting bored and moving around somehow. 'Her personality has greatly matured since she has trained under Mahad, whom I owe my greatest of thanks to'- without him, she would have never achieved, controlled and unlocked any of her abilities at all. Dismissing my thoughts as soon as I heard the door to the Throne Room open, I took a small breath before signalling some guards to escort the first civilian into the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Le Time-Skip- 7 Hours Later- brought to you by reader-chan's epic sorcery~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Around this time it was starting to get dark, as Ra's light began to fade over the horizon- and I couldn't help it once again, as I looked back over to (Y/N). My breath had caught itself in my throat. The afternoon rays somehow cloaked her and made (Y/N)'s appearance god-like and (if it was possible) all the more stunning. This was it for me, I cannot keep admiring her from afar like a coward; I must speak with her about my feelings that I have towards her...'but what if she does not return them?.' I ignored that last statement in my head because I knew that being Pharaoh comes with many responsibilities, and being honest was one of them- I cannot keep lying to her about being alright, 'the truth is that I am hurting every time she calls me her friend and nothing more'. As usual, my honesty won the mental argument; and so I have made my decision, 'I will ask her to accompany me for a walk around the Palace Gardens'. Nodding to myself slightly, I gave the order for the Palace Guards to close the grand doors and proceed past the main doors that lead back to the palace. I then focused all my attention on (Y/N), I intended to grasp this opportunity since the High Priests and Priestesses were always the last to leave the Throne Room; glancing at Seto and telling him to leave first after me and (Y/N); he gave a curt nod and gestured to the others to follow him to the door and wait, which made me grow even more nervous. Now it was just me and (Y/N).

(Y/N's P.O.V.)

Once the ordeal was over, I was glad once again because my feet and back began to ache really badly; then I heard a commanding voice (obviously Atem's), telling Priest Seto to lead the other Priests and Priestesses to the main doors. Assuming that he had meant me as well, I started to follow him until pressure on my right shoulder stopped me- along with the same voice which had spoken out only mere moments ago. "Please stay a while (Y/N), I must speak with you about something of great importance" I heard him state with a rather serious look on his face which prompted me to speak with a concerned tone in my voice "is something troubling you my Pharaoh?." I heard him chuckle a bit and say "for the last time (Y/N), there is no need for formalities- it is just Atem when we are alone", I blushed at his words and nodded bashfully "of course- Atem"- after speaking those very words I could have sworn that Atem's eyes brightened slightly at the mention of his name. 'Does he really feel something for me?', I doubted that he would return my feelings because of the significant differences in our social classes- that would just be...improper. Suddenly, I was startled out of my thoughts but regained my composure in order to listen to what was being said "(Y/N), I would very much appreciate your company while I take a walk around the Palace Gardens...what do you say?." I froze for a while and nodded shyly, to which he chuckled and unconsciously took ahold of my left hand and continued to lead me towards our destination (the Priests and Priestesses continuing in different directions towards other tasks); after walking through a few grand hallways and turning a few corners, I was finally met with the sweet smell of Desert Roses and nature. My eyes practically lit up like a child on Christmas as I continued to observe the beautiful scenery; I could hear Atem's familiar chuckle in the background as I continued deeper into the natural paradise. Whilst continuing to explore further, however a sudden pressure on the right side of my ear made me pause for a moment- before I lifted a hand to touch the foreign object that was placed there. Before I had the chance to remove it though, another hand stopped mine "it is a Desert Rose...do not take it out, it enhances your beauty"- it was Atem. Blushing madly I faced him for some kind of explanation, but all I got in response was a gentle caress on my knuckles where our hands had become intertwined once again. "If I may, I have something that I must confess to you" he stated in a gentle voice which honestly startled me, as he always acts differently with me in person than out in public; so without hesitation, I responded with an "alright"- accompanied with a slight nod.

(Atem's P.O.V.)

It was in that moment that I knew- love was the emotion that I had been struggling to understand this whole time, it's the reason why I can't bear the thought of losing (Y/N) or seeing her get hurt in any way. After understanding that, I was certain of my next words as I have been waiting for this very statement to leave my lips since the first few months of her arrival. 'This is it, there is no going back', I still knew that in the back of my mind that there was a small possibility that she did not feel the same towards me- but I am more than willing to take that risk. Slowly but surely, I began to grasp both of her hands in mine before beginning to speak "(Y/N), before I met you my life was never as enjoyable as it is now- you have filled every corner of it with joy and light, and I feel that I do not deserve to be in your presence", taking a quick glance at (Y/N)'s eyes I can see some tears of happiness begin to swell in the (E/C) orbs- which I have come to love more than life itself. I continued on, already knowing that she obviously felt the same; but I wanted to hear it from her first: "however, now I see that I have been a selfish fool" I took a breath again. "Blinded by my uncertainty I continued to push you away, not knowing that you felt the same about me as I did you..please (Y/N) forgive me"; as I looked into her eyes once more, one glance was all that I needed to say the next thing on my mind. "I love you (Y/N), so much that it hurts me to keep my feelings away from you any longer", I heard (Y/N) cry happily as her embrace was wrapped around me soon after the words had escaped from my mouth, "I love you too Atem, I too was a fool...I thought that you would never fall in love with me, up until now it all just seemed like a sweet dream." I returned (Y/N)'s embrace and whispered to her softly "then we were both fools" I chuckled softly whilst wrapping my arms around (Y/N) lovingly, and placing a kiss on her nose "that makes me feel a little less guilty." I heard her giggle erupt in the air surrounding us both, which caused me to smile adoringly- it was at that time I knew, '(Y/N) is the only one for me'. So with that, I leaned in and sealed my promise with a passionate, slow and loving kiss on her perfect lips; which she responded almost immediately to- satisfying both of our yearning hearts and smiling all the while.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Le Time-Skip- 1 Year Later- brought to you by Atem's eyes *silently fangirls*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Y/N's P.O.V.)
Fiddling with my bridal garments once more, I glanced back down at Isis again for support; I was so nervous that I thought that I could black out at any moment. "Being nervous is normal for these types of ceremonies (Y/N), just relax and focus on what is ahead...not behind nor around you" I heard Isis say- without looking at me as she was fixing my dress whilst speaking to me. Smiling gratefully towards her, I was somewhat comforted by the advice that I received; I could always count on her for anything, even emotional support. This woman was practically a legend. I sighed and tried to relax once more as I only just noticed the doors that led to my next destination...and where my future husband and love for the rest of eternity awaited my presence. Once again, the dreaded knot appeared inside my stomach as if it was protesting towards my thoughts; I still knew that the feelings were normal so, I just decided to take it as it comes. As if on cue, Isis was at my side once more and stated "your majesty, your future awaits" with a graceful bow she then led me towards the doors that will open to a new future for me. Walking around me Isis then knocked quietly on the door three times, before the guards opened the grand doors which led to a magnificent room; filled with flowers and civilians which had gathered from all across Egypt to catch a glimpse of this rare occasion. However, all those other voices were tuned out as soon as I caught Atem's eyes glancing back at me from the end of the long walkway; nothing else mattered anymore, I was about to become the crowned Queen of Egypt and rule at his side. So with that, I took a deep breath and continued onward- towards my future.
After all, my home is wherever my heart lies...and that is here...
with Atem.
GAHHH I love Atem! ^.^
It's finally up! Up in the Air
*EDIT 7/01/17*: I changed the picture because I thought that this one suited the story better.
*FYI*: The reason why you didn't get a Millennium item is obvious- because there are only seven, and the Pharaoh has the puzzle; I personally hate creating things that just cause plot-holes in the end btw and if I was going to create a new Millennium item...it would have ruined this story completely. (Aside from the Millennium Spellbook- but that isn't considered one of the seven soo....) *I hope you can understand that 2015 NaNoEmo - #1 Pleading  *
I hope I got his personality right- but considering the fact that he wasn't Yami Yugi before where this story is set, I imagine that Pharaoh Atem would have been very affectionate and doting towards who he loves (well more so than Yami- because he had a different opinion on things back then).  Yugi/Yami
.....
I watched the original Yu-Gi-Oh again just to get this right lol (I kept getting Mahad confused with Aknadin <.< #nameproblems )  -tv-
-Plus, all of the sets are mine- I have to come up with outfits for everyone in this series, so please don't hate me if you don't like the sets; I created them to suit each character's story; I might not be big on fashion, but I do like dressing up. :D (Big Grin)
Link to Intro: [Link]
*sniffles* So beautiful...I actually cried while I was typing this.
Atem was suggested by one of my dear friends (you know who you are Hi! )- So here ya go! ^.^
I DON'T OWN YU-GI-OH! OR THE IMAGES.
I don't own you either, because you either belong to you or: Shirtless Yami icon (<----- I love that GIF *.*)
And this story belongs to me. My Dork Dance  (lol)
